About Krisjak

I am a professional artist working under the name KRISJAK.

I have always loved to work with colours and forms and work with the contrasts in my paintings – i.e. combining the raw and rustic with the feminine. I am very fascinated by old patinated things and aged things with sole and history.

I find much inspiration among people and animals – not the least the birds are often in my paintings – and especially my own parrot.

Everything is allowed in my paintings where I, by using different techniques, use a lot of combinations of colours and materials such as  gravel, sand, sackcloth, rusty iron, metals and paper. Before a painting is finished it goes through a long process.

A piece of burned wood, taken from a burned down building or a bonfire, I sometime turn into figures combining it with metal wire and iron, or a human profile or a bird after free fantasy. Many of my sculptures are placed on a foot of stone, maybe a paving stone, where my background from the old City of Copenhagen shows.

The figures from my sculptures also appears in my paintings, from where also human faces for a period resulted in masks, which showed human beings from their good and bad sides.

The most important for me is however to ensure that you can continue to find new things and stories in my paintings and sculptures.
